Pets and Kitchens

I never cease to be amazed at how much people will spend on their pets. While I admit that These Creatures pet bowls are pretty nifty, the $125 price tag seems a little insane for a piece of metal. What I did find interesting about this picture though is the countertop and backsplash. It is 100% identical to the stuff I just pulled out of our kitchen, right down to the boomerangs and metal trim.

The update on our little remodel. Rough electrical is 90%, I may actually finish it tonight, and we are getting bids on drywall. Hopefully we should be able to start painting and doing flooring the weekend after Thanksgiving. If all goes well we should be all finished up by Christmas easy. Say goodbye to boomerangs and hello to ABSTRAKT white.

Creede is a frugal design junkie. He loves miminamist and mid-century influences and often finds himself with a hammer and drill in hand in order to achieve the style he wants without breaking the bank.

They are actually reproducing this boomerang pattern now, we saw it when we went to look at countertops! A little too retro for me, but still kinda fun.

PS… I am hoping that the countertop material in the above picture is being used in some other application, and that the cat is not actually on a kitchen counter which humans use for food prep. I love my cats and they are allowed nearly everywhere in the house, but the kitchen counter is my one big exception. Blech!

I’m not opinionated on the bowl or the countertop style, but cats on the counter — yuck. Mine have been trained to stay off surfaces where food is kept.
