Key Module :: Housefish

KeymediummoduleThese stackable, modular storage units from Housefish are the perfect solution for just about any space: use ‘em as a media console, a bookshelf, you name it.  They’re available in a wide variety of colors and heights, with or without doors, and ship flat.  Oh, and assembly is a breeze–all you need is a hammer.  I’m sold!

Capree, a photographer by training and a design blogger by passion, was born in Phoenix, Arizona and raised in Peoria, Arizona. She spent a great deal of her youth going to museums and reading through her father’s art and design books.

    I’ve purchased one of the these. First of all it’s a great company. I made my purchase through Fab, which was a less than wonderful experience. The owner of the company Scott Bennett was very helpful when I wrote in to complain.

    They’re very well made, easy to assemble, and are packaged very well for shipping.

    They are a bit narrow at approx 15″. I thought of using it as a media console a largish cable box won’t fit. There is a hole in the back to pass cords through, but it seems unnecessarily small.

    What you see is what you get. Other than what I’ve described here there aren’t any surprises.

    The alignment pins are a striking element. I don’t especially like the rounded ends sticking both sides. I’d prefer something more rectangular with rounded corners. It does give it a unique look, but one that I think looks better when multiple units are used together. One on it’s own looks a little odd.

    These things are built like a tank without any overly complicated mechanisms – for example the metal doors slide easily inside a wooden track cut into the top of bottom of the pieces not mounted on top.
