A new project begins…

Dsc 0014-23
Well I guess it was inevitable. It seems that I have an affinity to knocking walls down. Last week while my wife was gone on vacation I decided it was a perfect time to redefine some spaces in our house. This picture is just a sneak preview, I’ll go over the whole story as soon as I get all my pictures together. Needless to say it was a huge dusty mess, and my wife was very glad that she wasn’t around.

Creede is a frugal design junkie. He loves miminamist and mid-century influences and often finds himself with a hammer and drill in hand in order to achieve the style he wants without breaking the bank.

    nice.

now fix you rss feed, its been a mess for weeks :-)

  • April

Is this a kitchen pass-through? I want to do that in our house, but I am terrified to knock out part of the wall!

  • DavidM

I’m going to imagine that you knocked down walls while your wife was gone and neglected to tell her because that will be more entertaining (at least for me). Glad you’ve got your hard hat back on. Lookin’ forward to the rest of the pics.

    Gareth,

I’ll look into the RSS feed. I changed hosts a couple of weeks ago and that may be the problem. You may need to resubscribe…

    April,

This is a little bigger than a pass through. Full details to follow.

    DavidM,

You’ve got me pegged. The whole thing was a complete surprise to her. She didn’t even see it coming. :)

  • The Lockes

    Hello there,

We are excited to all be under construction together…once again. We are a little confused though, thought your Arco wouldn’t fit in the new place. Regardless, glad to see it again

The Arco barely was able to squeeze in by doing some tweaking. We still love it, but it looks so much better with at 10′ plus ceiling.

Is that a original Castiglione or Kovacs lamp? Some of the knockoffs I’ve seen don’t have the expanse…

  • http://Grassrootsmodern.com Creede

It’s a knock off, but a fairly faithful one. See more details here http://grassrootsmodern.com/2006/05/25/happy-birthday-too/

So, we really enjoy this new format you have going here usually referred to as “The Video”. It’s very interactive… AND you get to have a rockin’ soundtrack. If you ever need music for further “The Video”s, please let us know. We have some recommendations.

Amazing that your dear wife didn’t seem to know (though I think she must have suspected: intuition, you know.)

Our waffle recipe for your new kitchen is:

    1 1/2 cups oatmeal
    2 T. brown sugar
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. cinnamon

mix this stuff in a bowl

    in different bowl:
1 egg white beaten until stiff and it peaks

    in different bowl mix:
2-4 T oil or butter (we use 3 T oil)
3/4 cup vanilla soy milk (original says just milk, but soy is all we drink)
    egg yolk

add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Add egg white.

put it in your fancy modern waffle iron (we put a little butter on the iron to assure non-stickiness)

cook it until it smells like oatmeal cookies or until it’s nice and brown.

Eat it with lots of modern fruit and whipped cream with modern real maple syrup on your fancy modern plates with your fancy modern silverware and napkins.

    Love,
    the clarks prices.

[...] that needed updating. The berber carpet and yellow paint were the first things to go. After that we knocked down a wall in our kitchen and added some new cabinetry. We’ve been here for over a year now, and the [...]
